TX – Hotel tax suspended for hurricane harvey victims through October 23

Texas Governor Abbott has extended the suspension of the collection of state and local hotel or motel occupancy taxes for Hurricane Harvey victims and relief-effort personnel from September 23 through October 23, 2017. The previous suspension lasted from September 7 through September 22, 2017.

To certify that they qualify, victims and relief workers should complete a Form 12-302, Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax Exemption Certificate, check the “Exempt by Other Federal or State Law” box, write “Hurricane Harvey” anywhere on the form, and submit it to the hotel at check-in or during their stay.
